Lifestyle Medicine may be the only thing to pay attention as we attempt to find the best preventative approach to living fuller, happier, stronger, and longer lives.
Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based approach to preventing, treating and even reversing diseases by replacing unhealthy behaviors with positive ones. This can mean eating healthfully, being physically active, managing stress, avoiding risky substance abuse, adequate sleep and having a strong support system.
We now have all the information we need to make informed decisions in our lives. Where we once relied solely on our physicians advice, we are now relying on ourselves and the information we seek from multiple sources. The shift from traditional modes of healthcare education has been a positive and empowering advent but it has also lead to information overload, potentially causing even more confusion, frustration and leaving us in either analysis paralysis mode or causing us to jump from one healthcare routine or diet to the next.
Without consistency, there is no progress.

As a physical therapist, I try to dive into the architecture of not only a client’s body and personal goals, but also the architecture of their life. Often times, we don’t pay attention to the potential opportunities around us.
